Hi Alex and Desiree,

I like Vanessa's idea; 'Bimbadeen Sactuary'. It sounds like a haven of peace and tranquility - what everyone's home should be.

Keep up the great work!

My only other suggestion was "Sanctuary". That word evokes for me the idea of peace and sensitively managed freedom for wildlife, and why shouldn't people have sanctuaries created for them too? I think it would be fair to say that one of the ideals of a home based on universal design is to create a sanctuary for the people who live in it. Good luck with the decision!

Vanessa
Yes you are on the right track.
I am leaning towards keeping it simple and just using bimbadeen.

Hi Alex,
I think Bimbadeen is perfect! When you say you are seeking a word to associate with it, do you mean a noun such as "Bungalow", "House", "Villa", "Cottage", "Retreat", or "Lodge"; or have I got the wrong idea altogether?

Vanessa

Thanks for your comments. I think that you will find Harry very helpful (If you can ever stop him telling you stories). The pace of the building, and the bills, is increasing. We are hopful of getting into the place sometime in the next 6 - 8 weeks. The next big jobs are the laying of the Altro safety flooring in the wet areas and the painting. At the same time the electricians are returing to do the final installations. And the kitchen is being made offsite at the moment. You should see a number of major changes over the next few weeks.

The floor and stairs look magnificent! Thanks for sharing yet more great ideas. By the way, my husband and I have met with Harry Sprintz for help with making our home more accessible and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing his proposed design next week. I wouldn't have known about his wonderful work if it wasn't for your excellent web site. Thanks again.

Thanks Brendon. I will be posting some more photos tonight. The comments from all of the tradesmen about the Style Plantation compressed bamboo flooring have been very positive. They say that it looks spectacular.
The top level was laid over plywood underlay which was in turn on standard particle board sheet flooring. This was done so that there were no differences in levels between bathrooms or the the outside decking area. This is particularly important so that we reduce tripping hazards and helps getting wheel chair access OK. You would be surprised how even small level changes can cause havoc this way. The team have now started to lay the ground floor flooring. This is a more traditional set up where the compressed bamboo is being laid on battens which have been Dyna bolted to a concrete slab.
