Design Details - Polytec a Possible New Partner

We have decided to use Eden Custom Kitchens as our cabinet maker for all of the kitchens, bathrooms and home office. Originally in the design we specified polyurethane cupboard doors throughout. We have these in our current home and I have noticed that they do not stand up well to wheelchair abuse. Luckily for me there was the number one kitchen cabinetry exhibition on in Sydney last weekend. It is called AWISA (I am not sure what the initials mean) So I went along as the company that John from Eden Custom Kitchens uses for his cupboard doors, Polytec was exhibiting. The show took up four halls at Darling Harbour and the place was filled with these giant wood working machines that they use to make benches and cabinets. I had no idea of the size of some of this equipment.
I located the Polytec stand and was able to spend some time talking with Dave who was one of the Queensland sales team. He advised that for our application we probably should not use polyurethane, but melamine. Melamine doors are durable, hygienic and made with easy maintenance materials. In addition he advised that we should consider using the rolled edges as they are more resilient to bumps and knocks.
I also met Mathew who is Polytecs Marketing Manager and was able to pitch our project to them. So hopefully Polytec will become one of our partners as I believe their product is really suited to our application.
