Skope are a New Zealand company that specialises in electrical heating and cooling. They make appliances that really stand the test of time. They have a particularly good range of heated towel rails. We have designed the project so that energy consumption is minimised. As we are going to use solar panels to convert sunlight to electricity the choice of electric heating appliances was logical. While the weather in Merimbula  is quite temperate, there are times when the winds blow off the Snowy mountains and make the weather a bit chilly. Rather than heat the whole house we chose to use a system that only heats specific areas. The Skope products were ideal for this purpose.

One of the big advantages of built in heating is that the chance of having trailing power cords is lessened. Staying on your feet is of paramount importance to avoiding accidents in the home. The New South Wales Health Department have put out a brochure titled Stay on Your feet  it gives tips about making your home safe. The brochure was a result of research that was conducted between 1992 - 1997 that concluded that any measures to reduce falls would lead to gains in health outcomes.
