Windows can be a pane…

For the last couple of weeks construction at the site has slowed. I have been trying to get the windows sorted out. The plans have called for a couple of unique window configurations. Standard windows that are butted up against louvre windows, and two main windows that include a 90 degree glass to glass mitre joint. What these configurations do is to maximise the flow through ventilation (louvres) and maximise the views (glass to glass mitre joints). What this has done however is to complicate the job. All of the windows cannot be sourced from one company, so we have to get a couple of companies working together. This sort of thing is always a challenge. However by the end of the week I think that we have our act together. The two window companies are Dowell and Breezway.

Dowell Windows

Dowell will provide the majority of the windows for the project. They are a division of Boral who have been a great supporter of the project.

Breezway will provide the louvre windows. A number of these will be their new product called Altair power louvres. In addition they will also provide the skylights used in the project. Have a look at their range of skylights.

Now that we have the windows sorted we can get back to the building. The problem was that without the actual window specification we could not allow for the right cut out size in the walls.
